Montegridolfo (Rimini)

Montegridolfo: earth, men and border culture. As an extreme edge of Romagna, it was one of the bastions guarding the ridge that separates the Romagna side from the Marche. Born on a bushy spur as a refuge at the arrival of invasions that have occurred in antiquity, it has become historically a stronghold contended from Malatesta, Montefeltro, Borgia, the Venetians and the Church. Very modest in extension, it has maintained for centuries the same number of inhabitants, which in 1500 were 950 and today are little more than 1,000.
